Hebrew Keyword: פני (Panim) - Face
The psalmist asks, 'How long will You hide Your face (panim) from me?' In Hebrew thought, panim means both 'face' and 'presence'—to feel God's 'face turned' is to experience closeness; 'hidden' is to feel distant. You, too, may have days when the light of hope seems veiled. Yet, even asking 'how long?' is itself a turning, a song that seeks connection.
Personal insight: Judaism honors honest questioning, believing that heartfelt longing draws you closer to the Divine.
If today's emotions feel tangled, remember you are allowed to bring all your feelings to your prayers.
Feeling stuck? Write down your question to God (or to your inner Self). Sometimes asking is itself a form of hope.
